Cornish students are hoping to save lives by donating their stem cells to strangers fighting cancer.
A campaign set up for students at the University of Exeter’s Penryn campus has resulted in two people working with the charity Anthony Nolan to support treatment of ill people.
Hannah Smith, who graduated with a degree in Zoology last month, recently donated her stem cells to a person she’s never met before. She has followed in the footsteps of another graduate who donated last year.
Hannah said: ‘It was really easy to sign up to the Anthony Nolan register, all I had to do was spit in a cup! The donation itself was pretty painless, the hardest part was sitting still for four hours.’
