THE minor injuries unit at St Barnabas Hospital in Saltash is to reopen on Monday, November 16 – a year after it was closed.

The closure, which was the cause of much concern by Saltash Town Council and local community, came after two members of staff retired. Peninsula Community Health said at the time that there was no other option but to close the unit while staff with the right skills were sought. Staff have now been recruited and existing staff have undergone training to work in the unit.

Jo Beer, Peninsula Community Health’s Interim director of operations, said: ‘We’re pleased to be able to provide a local minor injury service to Saltash and will be working towards providing further training to reopen to our full previous service hours.’ The MIU will be open Monday to Friday 8am-4pm but will be closed on bank holidays and weekends.
