A global ‘food revolution’ starts with local action says one Torpoint woman who is working hard for change.
Debbie Thorpe is a community chef for Jamie Oliver’s Food Foundation in Cornwall, a job which involves showing people how to get the healthiest meals out of good quality, value for money ingredients. Debbie is sharing Jamie’s ‘10 recipes to save your life’ – simple nutritious meals which families and children can make. Over the coming year she hopes to get as many people as possible involved with Foodrev Cornwall – the local arm of Jamie’s Food Revolution campaign. Debbie is teaming up with businesses, schools and community groups in Cornwall to deliver healthy cooking and eating projects across the county. Part of the message is on choosing and buying food wisely and not creating waste, she says. ‘Cooking skills are the tools to a great future. If anyone has a skill they are willing to share, sign up, and make a difference.’
