The Stroke Befriending Service, managed by Volunteer Cornwall, is celebrating its first anniversary and urgently needs more volunteers for the programme.
In Cornwall, each year, approximately 1,300 people have a stroke leading to life changing challenges including physical and communication disabilities. Life after a stroke can be lonely and people are at an increased risk of experiencing depression and anxiety.
The Service helps those who have experienced a stroke feel less isolated by matching them with a volunteer to talk to about their experience. Volunteers typically meet with those affected by strokes once a week for six weeks and offer support and encouragement.
If you would like to volunteer, please email [email protected] or ring 01872 266 997.
