RESIDENTS will have the opportunity next week, on Thursday and Friday, December 10 and 11, to look at a display and express their views over the proposals by East Looe Town Trust to refurbish the seafront area. Caradon Council will be loaning their display vehicle for the consultation, which will be parked on Buller Quay for the two days. Vice chairman, Dave Skentelbery, says the Trust have been trying for four years to obtain grants for the upgrading of the seafront area but have now decided to go it alone and get the work underway. It is hoped to make a start on the new railings which should be completed by the end of the winter, and to install some new seating. Other features will be new lamp posts which will also have special brackets for hanging baskets, and new paving, the biggest project which will be scheduled for next winter as it will involve the closure of the seafront while the work is in progress. Mr Skentelbery said visitors to the display van will be able to view plans, which will include a coloured drawing of the overall vision by students at the Plymouth Art College, and there will be posts, tiles and other items for people to see. The Trust's project to build a landing stage at Tom Barber's Rock for Looe boatmen is receiving a helping hand from Looe Divers. The company has offered it services to undertake a 'scouting survey' of the area on the sea bed and above the water for the University of Plymouth who are carrying out the feasibility study. The dives are to take place on Sunday, December 12.
