A vision of how Looe could develop in years to come has been published this week.

Looe Town Council wants townspeople to feedback on its draft Looe Neighbourhood Plan and has released a summary leaflet.

The plan was written by volunteers from the community and local organisations with the aim of agreeing a way forward, within national policies, to ensure Looe is developed in a way that is environmentally, economically and socially sustainable.

Proposals include encouraging better bathing water quality; giving priority to commercial fishing and marine industries; resisting the loss of hotels and supporting the growth of ‘festivals’.

Looe wants to join other seaside towns and have a new policy preventing use of all new homes as second homes or holiday lets and it plans to prevent sprawl that would harm Looe’s setting.

Formal consultation is open until May 10 with drop in sessions at Looe Community Academy on Tuesday, March 26 between 3.30pm and 7pm; The Millpool Centre on Saturday, April 6 between 10am and 2pm and The Guildhall on Wednesday, April 17 between 11am and 3pm.

The full plan can be seen on www.futurelooe.town, at Looe Library and the Town Council offices.
