Restaurants and cafes are being invited to take up a special offer which would enable them to offer customers menus in Cornish.

The number of businesses using Cornwall's own Celtic language is growing and, to celebrate, the Cornish Language Partnership, MAGA, is offering great savings for owners of restaurants and cafés who wish to embrace the benefits of putting Cornish on the menu.

MAGA's recent #speakcornish campaign and other Cornish language events have been welcomed by many businesses which recognise the Cornish language as a distinctive way to attract more customers.

Throughout this month and in March, food outlets can have their menus translated, host language sessions, obtain printed pocket guides or other support and translation services from MAGA to help them attract more customers.

MAGA has translators ready to provide help and support with signs and menus and other useful forms of language translations. MAGA has also produced Cornish In A Café? – a Cornish language guide more specific to the eatery sector.

Ordinarily, only 40 words can be translated by the partnership free of charge, so the offer represents a great saving – and MAGA staff are also on hand to help coach employees so that they can say 'A vynn'ta kavos tamm kernewek gans henna?' ('Would you like some Cornish with that?')
