LIONS members in Looe delivered 150 Christmas Hampers out to residents with help from local businesses and the Community Academy.

An appeal launched by the Looe Lions asked for donations of money or goods for the festive boxes as well as nominations for those who might be very glad to receive one.

A Lions Club spokesperson said: “Our recent appeal has allowed us to deliver 150 Christmas Hampers to local residents, mainly elderly, who you thought needed some cheer after what has been a tough year for a lot of us.

“We have received some wonderful feedback from recipients and to all those of you who donated either money or items, or nominated someone, can we say thank you from Looe Lions and all those that have benefited.”

Around 100 tins of soup will be donated to the Liskeard & Looe Foodbank following the collection.

The Lions Club made a special thank you to the following for their donations:

Cornish Orchards, Coop Looe, Martin’s Dairy - Bakery and Tea Room, Looe Valley Honey, Cornish Tea & Cornish Coffee, Pol DomCare, and to Looe Community Academy for their help along with several friends of Looe Lions who helped pack and distribute the hampers

“A final thank you goes to the President of Looe Lions, Nigel White for all his hard work, his wife Carole and last but not least Lion Hedley Martin who has been doing this for years. Well done all of you.”
