A project in the South West is helping adults with learning disabilities and other needs to express themselves.

The Cornwall and Devon Supported Living service has been running the scheme in which service users make use of recycled materials.

The project has helped Michael Bryant to improve his self-esteem and ability to express himself. He has taken recycled materials and crafted them into shapes and words that express an emotion or feeling.

Michael, of St Cleer, has produced work around the theme of happiness. Thanks to the project, he has been engaging in more regular conversations with people around him.

David Quinton, a senior project worker, said: ‘It is really important that we provide service users with a wide range of creative and innovative activities.

‘We’re delighted to be supporting service users of Cornwall and Devon Supported Living to make great strides in their confidence and craftsmanship.’

The supported living service, which is part of the Embrace Group, offers help to adults with learning disabilities, mental health issues, complex needs, challenging behaviour and physical disabilities.
