Local octogenarian Ben Henderson-Smith performed his annual busking for charity event in the entrance to Morrisons supermarket in Liskeard on Saturday. He had decided that this year the recipient was to be ShelterBox, the charity devised and promoted by Rotarian Tom Henderson of the Helston Rotary Club. Friends in the Liskeard and Looe Rotary Club volunteered to display a ShelterBox and to help to collect for him – since it is rather difficult to thank people while playing the flute. From ten till just after noon, on a bitterly cold day, Ben played a wide selection of tunes, never repeating himself once. The happy notes could be heard throughout the store. The shoppers appreciated the happy tunes and responded by donating the amazing total of £231.40. Ben, Rotary and ShelterBox would like to thank all those kind shoppers who gave so generously and Morrisons for allowing the event to happen. Well done, Ben!
