THE new owners of a gym in Saltash are excited to welcome their existing and new clients back safely as they emerge from lockdown bigger and better than ever.

MoreCore Jack’s Gym has had a complete makeover, with bespoke state-of-the-art equipment, an expanded range of classes, and refurbished studio space.

But the strong community ethos of the gym remains the same under the family now at the helm of the project – Gill Court, her son Gavin, and sister Cresten.

The feedback has been “absolutely amazing” says Gill, since the gym reopened from lockdown on July 25.

“People love what we’ve done here. They say the atmosphere is friendly and supportive – that anyone can walk in whatever their background and situation and feel welcomed and with friends.

“We’ve had a lot of compliments about our cleanliness and COVID-19 precautions and people are blown away by the new equipment, which has been designed for us by Plymouth-based Era Fit.”

The services offered by MoreCore fall into two halves, says Gill: there’s the strength and conditioning and functional fitness side of things, with a variety of classes and personal training offered by PTs Gavin and Jay. Then there’s the closed studio, offering a complete range of classes from five styles of Yoga, Pilates and Legends to Les Mills Body Combat, Body Pump and Body Balance and more, with instructor Sam and a number of specialist instructors.

MoreCore Jack’s Gym is also home to the Saltash Amateur Boxing Association, offering a positive outlet for young people under the mentoring of Micky, who coordinates the club.

As the team look forward to a taster day on Saturday, September 12, Gill reflects on the work that has taken place in 2020.

“It’s been an enormous project – what we planned to do over a year or two we have done in just a few months,” she said. A mural on the wall of the gym designed and created by Gill’s daughter Sarah and Chloe Georgakis reflects aspects of Saltash, and it is a sense of belonging and community which sets the gym apart, says Gill.

“I’m really pleased and proud of what we’ve achieved – it’s about fine tuning it now.”

The Taster Day on Saturday, September 12, will see free 15-minute taster classes running all day from 7.30am-4.30pm and will be a great opportunity to get a feel for what the gym has to offer.
