Remembrance concerts, services and parades in South East Cornwall will be taking place as follows:

Saturday November 11:

Fowey RBL – Remembrance Concert, Fowey Church, 7.30pm. Faure’s Requiem First World War Poetry, Readings and Songs. Fowey River Singers, St Austell Brass Consort, Local School Choirs. Looe RBL – For Armistice Day,

Looe Royal British Legion short service and two minutes’ silence at Looe War Memorial, 10.45am. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Pelynt RBL – Remembrance Services and Act of Remembrance , 11am at Pelynt War Memorial.

Saltash RBL – Armistice Day commemoration in the centre of town. Gather at 10.45am for muster with standards for the two minutes’ silence.

Tideford RBL – Coffee Morning from 10am to midday. The two minutes’ silence will be observed by those present, along with the rest of the nation, at 11am. If you can provide a cake organisers would be grateful, with all proceeds going to the Poppy Appeal. 

Torpoint RBL – In Sparrow Park there will be a two minutes’ silence at 11am.

Sunday, November 12:

Callington RBL – March off from the Co-op car park, 2.30pm. There will be a short service in St Mary’s on completion of the wreath laying.

Dobwalls – Remembrance Service at Dobwalls United Church, 3pm.

Fowey RBL – Wreath-laying at the War Memorial will begin at 10.40am, followed by a short service outside, in front of the church.

Liskeard RBL – Liskeard Royal British Legion Remembrance Day Parade, leaving the Cattle Market at 10.30am and marching to the town’s War Memorial in Castle Park. There they will lay wreaths before the Remembrance Service takes place at St Martin’s Church. The parade will then march back through the town centre, with the salute being taken outside Webb’s House. Refreshments will follow at the Royal British Legion Club.

Looe RBL – Remembrance Sunday. Looe Town Council will be holding a Civic Service and wreath-laying at Looe War Memorial at 10.30am.

Menheniot – Menheniot Remembrance Parade will consist of the RBL, the parish council, the school, the playgroup, Scouts, Cubs and various other local groups, marching from the Legion Hall at 9.45am to the village church. The wreath-laying will follow the two-minutes’ silence at 11am. The horse Sambucca will be in attendance and a wreath will be laid on behalf of the animals killed in the Great War.

Morval – To mark Remembrance Sunday, there will be an Act of Remembrance at Morval War Memorial, 10.50am. Remembrance will follow in St Wenna’s Church.

Pelynt RBL – 10.45am at St Manarch’s Church, Lanreath and afterwards at Pelynt War Memorial for wreath laying.

St Cleer RBL – Gather by 10.45am, with the March-on of Standards taking place at 10.50pm. There will be a two minutes’ silence at 11am, followed by a wreath-laying. On completion of the parade, a Remembrance Service will take place in the church. (Note the road by the War Memorial will be closed from 10.40am to 11.10am).

St Dominick – Remembrance Services in the Parish Church at 10.50am, and at 3pm in the Methodist Church with speaker Ms Jean Ryall.

Saltash RBL – Remembrance Day Service at 2pm in the Wesley Chapel, followed by a parade down Fore Street and Station Road to the War Memorial, where wreaths will be laid. The Mayor will then take the salute on the march past.

Tideford RBL – On Remembrance Sunday, there will be a short Act of Remembrance at Tideford War Memorial at 10.45am. A bugler will sound the last post and wreaths and crosses will be laid. This year a Women’s Royal Naval Service (WRNS) wreath – one of more than 100 being laid at venues around the UK – will be laid to commemorate the centenary of the formation of the WRNS and to remember those wrens who lost their lives while serving their country. After the Act of Remembrance, the Branch Standard will be paraded to St Luke’s for a church service. On completion of the service, the Legion Club will serve a light buffet and the bar will be open.

Torpoint RBL – The parade will start from Albion Road at 10.30am and the RBL Remembrance Service will take place at Elliot Square at 11am.
