The battle to find a song to represent Cornwall in the Celtavision song contest in Ireland in April 2017 was won last Friday night by The Grenaways.
In a closely contested final, the band fought off stiff competition from other shortlisted bands The Aggie Boys and Tom Reilly and the Swaggers to win with their song Ster Kosel (Silent Stars)
The Pan-Celtic festival was first held in Killarney in 1971 and focuses on showcasing the language, music and culture of the Celtic nations. Cornwall has been very successful in recent years in the Celtavision song competition, with several wins to its credit.
‘The Grenaways will be great ambassadors for Cornwall in 2017 and I am sure they will really enjoy the experience as well’ said Cornwall Pan-Celtic Committee Chair Dave Crewes.
Songs entered must be new compositions and must be sung in the Cornish language.
