Mount Edgcumbe Country Park is celebrating the re-birth of the year by constructing a huge Green Man figure made from storm damaged trees.

This year’s Green Man event continues today from 10am to 4pm.

Entertainment is provided by the Pirates of St Piran, Black Friday (the Cornish band), BabaYaga’s Circus Theatre, the Lodestone Border Morris, and Age of Chivalry (medieval knights).

Traditional family activities will be running including food and craft stalls plus English long bow archery, a working blacksmith, Talons and Scales (birds from the Owl Sanctuary), wood turning crafts, vintage fairground rides, bouncy castles, beer tent, and the obligatory hog roast.

The Green Man himself is the culmination of a community project. He is the result of cooperative work between the Park’s gardeners, a host of local volunteers and many artists from across the Tamar Valley.

Parking is available close to the event and free transport will be running to bring visitors from the car park and back.

Although there is a charge for all-day car parking the event is free.
