An animal charity based in St Cleer has received a £5,000 grant from Support Adoption For Pets, to help pay for essential vet bills for the animals it helps.?Refuge4Pets provides a pet fostering service across Devon and Cornwall for individuals and families that need to escape violent and abusive relationships.

Founder of Refuge4Pets, Mary Wakeham set up the charity in August 2017.

Since then it has provided temporary homes for 153 animals including 63 dogs, 50 cats and a selection of small and exotic creatures.

Refuge4Pets has 81 foster homes across the two counties but Mary said: ‘We always need more people to care for dogs and cats.’
