Golf- Junior championship qualifier

China Fleet Golf Club, Saltash are due to stage a Daily Telegraph/Center Parcs Junior Golf qualifying competition on 2 August in the hope of providing a bright young star of the future.

With over 27,000 competitions from 1200 clubs in 1998, The Daily Telegraph/Center Parcs Junior Golf Championship has become one of the most important driving forces in British golf and is without doubt the most prestigious and sought after title.

Junior golfers throughout England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland will battle it out at their local clubs this summer for the chance to be one of 21 lucky finalists. Nine girls and boys will be whisked off to play the Championship final at Ocean Forest Golf Club, home of the 2001 Walker cup, on Sea Island Georgia USA.

Each qualifying competition winner joins a national leaderboard with the best gross scores qualifying for the televised 36 hole strokeplay final. All entrants require a handicap of 28 or less for boys and 40 or less for girls. they must be under 18 on January 1, 1999 to participate.
