There was high drama in the 15th and final round of the Winter League. The first of the possible victors Murdo MacDonald completed his round early, but his score could not improve his position. It was left to the two leaders to fight it out - Ian Hawke and Dennis Edwards.
Ian was first to come in and together with a more than useful contribution from partner Keith Warren - they amassed a total of 44 points, surely that would be enough?
Once again as with last year, it went to the final putt on the final hole. When the card was handed in Dennis Edwards, once again with good support from his partner Bob Deacon, had exactly the same score of 44 points - the deadlock only to be broken on countback resulting in Dennis taking the trophy. Bob Deacon in his first year finished in second place on 12 points with Murdo MacDonald in third on 14 points. On the day Ian Hawke and Keith Warren shared the spoils with Dennis Edwards and Bob Deacon on 44 points with Digger Ebdon and Mike Morris in second place on 42 points.
Sunday saw the March Medal. Mike Mann followed a good Winter League performance to take the event with a 66 just in front of Colin Hough (67), who finished runner-up in Division Two with Dave Turner showing a good return to form with 67 in third place. No doubt other members will largely await developments with the Handicap Secretary's handicap!
In Division One Steve Drake carded a gross 73 net 68 to take the honours just ahead of Danny Lewis (69), Paddy Sleep just edged Ian Hawke out of third place on countback with 70's.
In Division Three Danny Nicholls played well to finish two shots clear of nearest rival Richard Larkins with a 69.

Jack Hawken, a junior member in experience but senior in age, took the honours in LOOE VETS March medal with 102-28-74 on count back from Richard Essam 87-13-74. Third place went to Andre Radondy 98-23-75, followed by Arthur Northfield 100-24-76.
