A prestigious golf tournament has been cancelled for a second time. The English Open, which was due to be played at St Mellion International Resort later this year, will not go ahead after organisers failed to raise the minimum £2m in sponsorship needed to stage it.

It is the second time the event has been cancelled after the 2009 tournament, also due to be held at St Mellion, wasn't staged because of financial problems linked to the redevelopment of the resort.
