ST. MELLION Golf and Country Club played host to the Annual Celebrity Golf Tournament on July 31st.
The event, which attracted many famous celebrities including veteran comic Sir Norman Wisdom, Kevin Whatley of Inspector Morse fame, and Duncan Preston, star of BBC series 'Dinner Ladies', was played on the Nicklaus Course, with proceeds from the event going towards the 'Child Victims of Crime' charity.
A round of golf concluded with a Gala Dinner, with light entertainment being provided by the celebrities themselves, including the occasional cabaret spectacular.

THE winner of the LOOE'S August Medal played in ideal conditions on Sunday, August 5, again came from the First Division - this time it was I Braund who came good with an excellent 63 (on one of his very few visits to the club this year!). He was closely followed in division 1 by G Rich who also had a 63 but he was pipped on the back 9.
M Waterworth won Division Two with yet another 63 (again pipped by Ivan on the back nine for overall winner).
P Sullivan was runner up in Division Two with a 64 and D Nicholls was again in the prizes in Division 3- winning with a 71.

THE LOSTWITHIEL Ladies Championship played over two days produced some super golf. Lynn Saget was the winner with gross scores of 87 and 85, the best net winning the Salver was Charlayne Platt with 81 and 68.
The July medaL was won by Lydia Stevens with a net of 65. Two Home Merlin matches were played against Rosearrow and Lanhydrock with home wins for the team. A friendly match was played with Carlyon Bay.
The annual 'Battle of the Sexes' ended with the men winning that battle, but the war is not over yet.
Lostwithiel were represented at the county Bronze meeting held at St. Austell on the wettest day of the month.
A new Ladies gross score course record was set by Lynn Saget of 78, well done, as she won the Rex Stevens Rose Bowl, Di Sobey was second and Jan Legard was third.
The ladies look forward to welcoming all those entering the Ladies Open on September 9th.

Whitsand Bay Veterans' had good weather for their open day on Friday 27th July. Eighty-nine players took part in the event, and in David Foster they had a home winner. Well done.
