THE ST MELLION October medal was played in wet and windy conditions on Saturday, October 7. Tony Hoskin had an outstanding round of golf, shooting 68 gross, nett 62 won Division One

Scott Wright shot 80 gross, 64 nett to win Division Two. Ian Maguire shot 91 gross, 67 nett to win Division three. Results - Division One - Tony Hoskin 68-6=62; Barry Nicholson 77-11=66; Keith Abbott 75-8=67. Division Two - Scott Wright 80-16=64; Frank Blake 85-19=66; Ron Johnson 80-14=66. WHITSAND Bay Veterans played a four-by-four better-ball-stableford on Friday last when winners were - R Jenkins and T Dart 45 pts; L Wilton and D Rawlings 41; H Pryn and K Bickle 41.

On Friday Whitsand entertained Bowood and recorded a good 6-2 win. Scores - G Barrell and P West bt J Chilton and B Hislop 2&1; H Pryn and A Sykes bt P Underwood and J Hunt 5&4; C Hancock and J Maddever bt J Albinson and P Vickery 4&3; T Doyle and K Bickler lost to B Trewin and D Reed 2&1; D Foster and D Nicholson bt D Eagle and M Trewin 3&2; T Dart and G Turner halved with R Bowndy and P Prior; F Glanville and D Parker halved with R Roose and B Maloney; D Rawlings and K Pomero beat S Bunyan and E Jones 4&3.

Winners of the monthly medal were: Div One - J Trevail 85-13=72; T Dart 89-16=73. Division Two: D Parker 96-22=74; J Maddever 94-19=75. Stableford - R Bennett 28 pts; D Foster 27; D Nicholson 27.

LAST weekend saw the October Medal which was held in good conditions. Dennis Edwards obviously relishes the winter months, following his successes of last winter he came out and shot a 64 to finish one shot clear of his field.

His nearest rival in Division was Ed Shapland with 66 with Steve Drake finishing in 3rd spot and also recording the days longest gross score of 72. Ian Puckey took his honours in Division 2 on countback from Trevor Frasle both finishing on 65 with Alan Winterson coming good with a 66. Young Mark Allen finished well clear in Division three but he is probably regretting the 18th hole which cost him dear. Jonathon Ussher took 2nd place on countback from Andy Adamson.
