HELPING to change lives across the UK and in the world's poorest countries were communities and schools from all over South East Cornwall who took part in Sport Relief's nationwide event, Go The Extra Mile.

They ran, skipped, walked, danced and cycled, raising hundreds of pounds in the process towards the astounding national total for Sport Relief of £52,070,587.

Among those 'going the extra mile' were St Cleer Primary School where pupils went for a walk across the moors in wellies.

At Sainsbury's in Torpoint, the staff went around with collecting buckets while others hopped aboard exercise bikes.

At Cawsand and Kingsand more than 100 local residents enjoyed a walk in the sunshine from Cawsand around Penlee Point.

The Hedgehog Class from Torpoint Infant and Nursery School did mile circuits around the playground, while at Menheniot a large crowd of villagers enjoyed the Menheniot Mile event.

At Burraton Primary School, pupils paid 50p to wear mufti and enjoyed energetic sessions of Zumba dancing let by Lizzie Wilkinson.
