Brownies and guides took inspiration from female role models as they took part in a brand new festival.
The Women of Looe Festival (WOLF) is celebrating the role of women in the town past and present - and encouraging girls to consider careers in fishing, seafood and the marine sector.
Youngsters from Polperro and Looe who attended the first of the festival workshops made a paper doll of their future selves and the jobs they would love to pursue.
‘The girls also decorated coloured paper fish and wrote the name of an inspirational woman in the centre. These will be on display in the visitor centre,’ said Brownie leader Julie Gregory.
The festival continues on International Women’s Day tomorrow (Friday) with a panel discussion entitled ’Tipping the Scales.’ Harbourmaster Tina Hicks, businesswoman Angela Harrison and Victoria Thomas of the Royal Navy and RNLI talk about their careers and take questions.
On Saturday in the Heritage Centre, an exhibition will showcase stories from inspirational women in Looe, and on Sunday, two local dance schools will perform on the quayside using the themes of the festival as their cue.
