DOBWALLS were in high spirits following the previous week's County Cup victory and continued their winning ways with a 5-1 victory over Plymouth Trophyman at Devonport Park on Saturday.

The visitors started strong and skipper Jacob Olver netted first after some good link-up play, before Harry Gilbert (who was voted by the hosts' as 'Man-of-the-Match') skipped down the left wing and chipped home to put his team 2-0 up at half-time.

The ten men of Trophyman came out bright in the second period but the Dobwalls defence was too strong, especially Harper Dominic and Harry Savage, who linked up well to protect goalkeeper Connor Mote.

Gilbert netted another following some more neat passing, but the Blues claimed a goal from a set-piece to keep the game alive.

Dan Hinks then played the ball forward from defence and nearly earned himself a goal, but could only find the crossbar from Gilbert's inswinging corner.

The Reds acted quickly and took a quick throw-in to put Ryan Carrington through, and the youngster volleyed the ball home.

Then, another well-composed passing sequence from Chris Owen, Kieran Roberts and Jack Libby helped Gilbert to his hat-trick with a terrific 30-yard drive that went in off the keeper's left upright.

Skipper Jacob Olver was awarded Dobwalls' 'Man-of-the-Match' accolade for his movement, his strength in maintaining possesion and his positive encouragement.
