AN INFORMATION evening where people can find out more about entering a team for the Liskeard Relay for Life is being held tonight (Tuesday).

THE ninth Relay for Life held in aid of Cancer Research UK will take place during the weekend of May 28-29.

Teams of between eight and 15 people, of all ages and levels of fitness, are invited to take part in the relay at the rugby club at Lux Park. During the 24-hour, non-stop relay, team members take it in turns to walk around a track.

As dusk falls, a candle of hope ceremony with specially-made bags, decorated with messages in memory or in celebration of loved ones, are filled with sand and lit up with candles around the track.

The volunteer organising committee is hosting the information evening at 7.30pm at the Eliot House Hotel.

Two members of the committee, chair Kerri Nason and Alex Putna, attended the charity’s national relay summit.

Kerri said: ‘Hearing the scientists and survivors really inspired me and made me feel that our efforts at the relay were truly making a difference.’
