PEOPLE in South East Cornwall are being encouraged to get in shape for the New Year for a good cause.

The Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Games are back for 2016 and events will be happening all over the country, including South East Cornwall, in March.

People of all ages and fitness levels can get involved, with organised swims, walks, runs and cycle rides of various distances.

Comedian Johnny Vegas (pictured) is encouraging people, whatever their ability, to get fit for Sport Relief. He said: ‘You don’t need to be sporty to get involved with Sport Relief.

‘This year you can walk, run, swim or cycle to raise help raise cash to change people’s lives right here in the UK and across the world.’

Organised events taking place in South East Cornwall on the weekend of March 18-20 include: The Eden Mile (Eden Project) on March 20, and a Swimathon on all three days at the Saltash Leisure Centre.

Those not able to participate in an official event can still fundraise by staging their own walk, run, swim or bike ride.
