The Cornwall Garden Society (CGS) is offering green-fingered youngsters the opportunity to become horticultural ‘experts’ by inviting them to hands-on workshops.

The aim is to encourage them to enter one of the junior classes at the Spring Flower Show which will be held at The Royal Cornwall Showground on April 6 and 7.

The first workshop will take place this Sunday, between 11am and 2pm, at Wyevales Garden Centre in Par. Children will have the opportunity to plant seeds and seedlings that will grow into salad leaves and vegetables, enabling them to compete in Class 160 for Best Leek, Onion or Salad grown from seed or seedlings or Class 161 for Best Vegetable grown from seed or seedlings.

The cost of £2.50 per child, includes supplying seeds, seedlings and compost as well as expert advice and support.
