THE head gardener of Cotehele House, Dave Bouch, will officially open Calstock's Community Primary School's Environmental Garden next Friday. The area will be full of plants, trees and a pond, providing the pupils with opportunities to use cross-curricular links in their education. The garden will be used to inspire creative writing, science activities, music inspiration and as part of the school's maths trail. Mrs Julie Whitney, who runs the school's thriving environmental club, hopes that the area will be of great benefit in the children's understanding of the delicate balance between plants and animals. The area has been developed by a group of parents, led by Mrs Bex Cambridge, alongside the British Trust for Conservation Volunteers.
