A Looe gardener is offering free seed sowing kits to keep children occupied in these difficult times.

Bill Simpson of Aster Gardening said: ‘This is a free service. I started it on my Facebook account in response to the closing of schools (due to Covid 19), and parents having to find interesting and different activities for their children.

‘It has proved very popular, I quickly had well over a dozen requests for my seed sowing kits (and growing each day). I’ve also had contact with Looe Primary School, who still have 50 pupils attending (with special educational needs and children of key workers). I will be providing them with a number of seeds, and a guide on growing.’

The kit contains a selection of seeds, a small amount of compost, a seed tray and seed sowing and plant growing instructions. They are only delivered to people in the Looe, Polperro and Liskeard areas and the kits can be dropped at doors, so no social contact is required.
