A RESIDENT of Looe was delighted after she raised more than £150 for charity by opening up her garden to visitors. Joan Dove, of Sunrising Estate, invited visitors in to her award-winning cottage garden last Saturday to try and raise money for Archie Barton – a two-year- old boy who through meningitis has lost both legs, his finger ends and almost all of his sight. Joan has opened up her garden for the past three years for charity. She was hoping to collect around £50, but was stunned when she raised triple that amount. 'I couldn't believe it,' she said. 'It was a lovely afternoon and the weather was fantastic.' Twenty-two people turned up to the event and enjoyed a plant sale, cakes and a raffle.
