AN art gallery opens for a new season with an appeal for supporters to help keep the roof over visitors’ heads.

The Ebenezer Gallery at Polperro opens for its spring and summer show on Thursday evening (March 29, 7.30pm) with free entrance and a preview featuring live music by Java 5 and refreshments.

The evening will feature the launch of a crowd-funding project to raise funds for repairs to the roof of the Gallery, in need of renewal and repair.

The Ebenezer Gallery is the home of the East Cornwall Society of Artists and is a non-profit-making organisation.

The gallery, formerly a Methodist Chapel, has been looked after by the Society since the early 70s.

A spokesman said: ‘Please help us to continue to look after this building. You can donate whatever you can afford. Why not buy a slate for yourself or family, alternatively why not buy someone a gift that will be associated with the gallery in perpetuity, by being recorded in a special book?

‘Every donation will also receive a memento and thank you from the society.’

You can donate at the gallery or online at www.crowdfunder.co.uk/ebenezer-gallery-we-need-slates

Several new artists and crafters are showing their work this year, bringing further diversity to the gallery.

During the year individual artists will be demonstrating and talking to visitors about their own work in the Artists’ Corner, starting in May.

The gallery will be open every day until the end of October between 10am and 5pm.
