I WRITE in reply to the letter in last week's Cornish Times which was headed: Housing is more important.

While I agree wholeheartedly that Looe needs more affordable housing, I am furious at the suggestion that the only people complaining about the planned Sunrising playground move are those already housed by the council.

We bought our house on the green two years ago at a time when house prices were at their highest. We mortgaged ourselves to the limit to provide a home for our son. My husband works full-time and I have two jobs to make ends meet.

Now I have someone suggesting that they put a children's park right outside my front door.

I would like to see anyone try to get a three-year-old to sleep at 7.30pm with lots of children playing right outside his bedroom window.

While I'm sure my son would love the park, it should not be put in such close proximity to residential properties, especially in such an enclosed area which magnifies any noise made.

We wish we could have had the luxury of affordable housing but as we work hard for a living this seems unlikely.

I'd quite like to keep the value of my property as high as possible and I think many prospective buyers would think twice about buying a house with a park ten yards from the gate.

I know I wouldn't have bought it if the park had been there when I viewed it.
