COVE Hall, Wilcove, was the venue on Saturday for more than 50 Torpoint Twinners who enjoyed a successful 'Cornish Evening' to provide funds to entertain their counterparts from Benodet, France, on their next exchange visit. The hall was decorated to a Cornish theme, the focal point being a Cornish coat of arms with crossed flags. Maps and posters of the Cornish coastline adorned the walls and table decorations were in Cornish colours. On arrival, twinners were offered a glass of wine from a ten-litre carton presented to the organisation by the committee of Benodet. The entertainment started with a programme of Celtic and Cornish music presented by local harpist Pam Adams accompanied by her husband Paul on mandolin and guitar. Next was the turn of the celebrated guest of the evening, David Prowse. He chose a collection of his humorous poems and personal experiences of Cornish village life and farming. During the break, a Cornish supper was served. The Cornish produce served included a ploughman's with Yarg and Davidstow cheese, smoked mackerel with salad, followed by scones with Cornish jam and clotted cream.
