A VILLAGE fund-raising appeal for the Cornwall Air Ambulance has smashed its summer target in just one day.
In Polperro, members of the Methodist Church who invited villagers to take part in a table-top sale have raised £1,500.
With more events to come, this already exceeds the target of £1,000 set for the whole summer.
‘The villagers supported the cause in every way that they could: by donating to the raffle, baking, and selling all sorts of items,’ said spokesperson Janet Bryant.
‘Tea, coffee and light lunches were served, and although it was a wet day, the event was supported well by locals and holiday-makers. Thank you Polperro, keep on fund-raising.’
The Polperro Fishermen’s Choir has chosen the Cornwall Air Ambulance as one of its nominated charities for 2018.
Concerts will be held on the quayside on Wednesdays, June 27, July 4, July 18, August 1, August 15 and August 29; if the weather is wet, the singing will take place inside the Methodist Chapel.
