A LEISURE complex signed up a record number of new members during a grand opening of its £350,000 revamped facilities. Lux Park Leisure Centre in Liskeard had a family fun day for the opening last Saturday. The centre now boasts a 52-station gym with some of the most up-to-date cardiovascular and resistance equipment available and two multi-use studios which will be used for exercise and dance classes. The open day's activities included a guest magician, chocolate fountain, treasure hunt, face painting, drawing competition, bouncy castle and an aerobics demonstration. It was the most successful open day the centre has staged as staff more than doubled the current record of memberships sold during one day. 'It was a phenomenal success,' Sara Lundon, Lux Park Leisure Centre's sales and marketing manager, said. 'We sold more than 60 ambassador memberships on Saturday. 'The most we have ever sold on previous open days is around 30.' Both of the centre's car parks were full for most of the day as families made the most of the event. 'The day was a great chance for people to see what Lux Park Leisure Centre now has to offer,' said Sara. 'The feedback we got from customers was positive. 'They all commented on what a great day they had.'
