Free parking 'gift' for new look Liskeard
Shoppers in Liskeard will be able to park free in the town for part of the day for a whole month - thanks to a generous gesture by Caradon.
Parking charges will stop at 2pm each day in all the district council owned car parks from September 13 until October 13 as part of the town's celebration of a new-look town centre.
Members of the Chamber of Commerce, who had suggested that this would do more than anything to bring back shoppers to the town, were very pleased when Caradon's Environmental agreed to the proposal.
Member Jane Pascoe, who has businesses in Bay Tree Hill, attended the meeting and said how delighted she was.
'It's a real boost for Liskeard', she said. ' Shoppers will be able to come to the own after lunch and not have to worry about paying to park.'
The free parking is part of the offer Caradon has made to the town to recompense for all the inconvenience and loss of trade caused by the re-vamping of the parade. Liskeard Chamber of Trade will also be running a month long promotion with the actual official opening of the Parade on Saturday, September 18.
The month will incorporate the annual St Matthew's Fair.
