One of Bodmin’s most historic buildings is getting a new brand name and offering free half-term entry to celebrate.
Over the past century and a half, someone from most Cornish families will have walked through its gates to enlist or train as a soldier. It’s been known over the years as the DCLI Museum, The Keep, Bodmin Military Museum and Cornwall’s Regimental Museum.
Its new name is Bodmin Keep - Cornwall’s Army Museum and to celebrate the new name, the museum will be throwing open its doors free of charge for February half term with free fun family activities on offer every day.
The new name celebrates three of the most important aspects of the premises: the historic Army keep, a superb heritage property in its own right; that it is a museum for and about Cornwall; and the quality and importance of the museum’s collection of uniforms, medals, guns, silver and art that are housed in the building and which cover 300 years of Army History.
