PEOPLE involved in community groups in South East Cornwall are being offered free training in community development skills. Organised by Caradon District Council and Cornwall College at Saltash, the course aims to give people the skills they need to take an active role in local organisations and projects such as village halls, youth facilities, residents associations and pre-school groups. The training covers teamwork, committee skills, interview techniques, bookkeeping, writing newsletters, equal opportunities, knowing your rights and IT skills. The free course starts on Thursday October 7 and runs for 10 weeks, meeting each Thursday from 9.30am to 12.30pm at Looe Enterprise Centre, Higher Market Street, East Looe. Course tutor Andrew James said: 'You can attend the whole course and work towards the Certificate in Community Skills or choose sessions covering specific areas that interest you.'
