TOM Fox, from China Fleet, is the new Cornwall Amateur champion after beating Josh Greenaway (Bowood Park) in a thrilling final which went to extra holes at St Austell.

Sixty competitors started out in the 36-hole strokeplay, with 32 players going through to the matchplay section.

Adam Taylor, from Perranporth, was the top qualifier with a two-round total of 139, but he could not reproduce this form the next day, losing in the first round to local favourite Simon Harper, who went on to make the semi-final.
