With the sides having met in the League only four days before could Torpoint overturn a 3-0 reverse and win this preliminary round cup encounter.
Against their powerful visitors it was a tall order but Torpoint did everything but score in the first period and were unlucky to reach the break a goal down.
They created several chances with Derek Cox unlucky and Paul Marshall having an effort cleared off the line.
Later Liskeard had goalie Gavin Hurst sent off for a handling offence outside the area and were reduced to 10 men. Fortunately they had a 'keeper - Paul Lowden - among the subs and immediately he saved brilliantly from Jamie Taylor's free kick.
Liskeard were spurred by this and with Torpoint pushing forward they took advantage scoring further goals through Paul Webber (header) and Steve Cloke who completed the final touch to a well worked move. Earlier Steve West from a free kick had opened the visiting scoring.
