Callington Town's second team have officially applied for membership of the Cornish Guardian East Cornwall Premier League for the 2001/2 season.
The club, whose first team gained a place in the Jewson South Western League, are currently riding high in the Duchy League Premier Division and are still in no fewer than three cup competitions, hope that they can secure a place in the Senior League at the second time of asking, having lost by one vote last season.
The Town's Marshfield Parc Ground has undergone major improvements to meet the Jewson standards and the club are hopeful that they can convince the League they should rejoin the league that they were champions of just eight months ago.
As part of this, they are to invite teams from the League to view the facilities prior to the League AGM in June.
Meanwhile the club will be holding a balloon race on Sat Feb 19 at Ginsters Marshfield Parc. The balloons will be let off at half time and the winner whose ticket has been returned from the greatest distance after three weeks, will win a cool £250 first prize.
