On their latest foray away St Cleer served up yet another intrepid display, spasmodically intertwined by moves reminiscent of last season's division four champions. Unfortunately for those loyal supporters travelling this season, the few highlights were little compensation, set against the general apathy shown.
On a pitch reminiscent of a monk's head where good passing football was difficult, Saints failed to intelligently adapt to the conditions, the first 20 minutes producing a combination of basic errors from the visitors. However at the end of a nondescript half, it was no surprise that the match remained goalless.
Half-time team talks failed to have the desired effect and the game restarted in the same vein until a goalkeeping howler enabled Biscovey to take the lead when Saints' 'keeper failed to keep hold of a shot and dropped the ball into the path of a grateful Biscovey attacker. Regrouping by the visitors led to them applying immediate pressure, and while they could not get a quick reply, they started to gel a little more and went close on a couple of occasions before Taylor ran on to a through-ball and beat the advancing 'keeper for his second goal in two weeks.
However, before the visiting supports could relax, Saints failed to take heed of all basic statistics, which point out the fact that teams are most vulnerable just after they have score and Biscovey notched their second, which turned out to be the winning goal, within two minutes of the restart. An error of judgement was once again to blame as a shot from outside the area beat Roberts on the line. Despite persevering to the end, Saints were unable to post any further score and the atmosphere is the visitor's dressing room at full time was somewhat muted.
This should be viewed as another three potential points lost for St Cleer, it being their second league defeat on the bounce, which has not happened since the 1997/98 season. This can basically be put down to a lack of concentration and focus, plus a failure to get to grips with the conditions on the day which have caused Saints' downfall twice in as many weeks.
