A LEADING figure in the funeral profession died at his home in Liskeard this week. Tre Ugalde, described by his family as a true gentleman and a respected character of Liskeard, passed away suddenly on Monday. Tre was the fourth generation of the family funeral directors Ugalde and Son, which were established in 1887. Taking over from his father John, those who knew him said he was highly regarded for his wealth of knowledge and expertise. The family said: 'Tre has served the community tirelessly for more than 50 years during which time he has cared for and supported many families in their time of need. Through his work he built up long-lasting friendships that have been of great comfort to him. 'He will be remembered for his devotion to his profession and for his unique sense of humour. He was a man who was happiest at home in Liskeard close to all his immediate family. He is a dearly-loved husband, father, father-in-law and grandad and will be remembered by many with fond affection and a smile.' His funeral is to be held at St Martins Parish Church, Liskeard, on Tuesday.
