Cornish Times staff and customers have said a very fond farewell to the newspaper’s long-serving receptionist.

Linda Munt - known as Lyn to her colleagues - retired yesterday after 29 years with the company.

‘I feel very lucky to be able to say “I love my job” and that is hugely down to the amazing people I have had the pleasure to work with, and the lovely customers,’ she said.

Lyn has met everyone coming through the front doors of the newspaper offices with a smile, often sharing emotional moments with people as they find the right words to announce a birth, an engagement, or the death of a loved one.

Starting out in her career by taking down details for the free ads, Lyn progressed to telesales and then onto manning the busy reception desk with calm, warmth and good humour.

She says she will miss her friends among the staff and customers - but she is looking forward to a new chapter in her life having just become a grandma.
