Two of the most popular bands to appear at Calstock Arts will come together for one exceptional performance tomorrow (Sunday).
Gigspanner, formed by multi-award winning fiddle player Peter Knight (ex-Steeleye Span), has established a reputation as one of the most ground-breaking forces in British folk. With genre-crossing influences, they are one of the most respected bands on the folk scene.
Meanwhile BBC Folk Award winners Phillip Henry and Hannah Martin are also very well known and loved at Calstock Arts - indeed, they recorded a live album there. They have described it as one of their favourite venues. Fairly recently they rebranded themselves as Edgelarks and the plaudits are still coming strong and fast.
The two bands will play together as the Gigspanner Big Band in a rare but highly sought after performance that is sure to attract a big audience, say Calstock Arts volunteers.
