Fly tipping has become a key management issue in the Kit Hill area, and at an Advisory Group meeting of the County Community and Countryside Committee held at the end of last year, it was reported the problem had become worse over the last 12 months.
An arrangement has been made with North Cornwall Council to remove the waste material, and although it is helping the situation it is not however doing anything to discourage people from dumping unwanted rubbish there.
The Group has decided to support the setting up of a volunteer ranger service, which is to be a top priority this year, in the hope of alleviating the matter.
It was also reported that during the August Eclipse there were over 3,500 people on Kit Hill and there were no problems of elicit camping or damage to ancient monuments.
Bird populations on the Hill have improved since the implementation of the Countryside Stewardship agreement.
