WHAT a day! When Luckett got to the ground at around 12.30pm, so did thunder and lightning and, of course, heavy rain, but they still managed to wrap up a 70-run victory. The game did not start until 2.30pm, with 43 overs to be played. On winning the toss, St Gluvias put Luckett into bat and must have wondered if they had done the right thing as Luckett scored 216 in their 43 overs. Captain Adrian Warne hit 60 off only 62 balls, with eight fours and two sixes. He was well supported by Adrian Robins, who hit seven fours in his 42, John Schuttkacker scored 27 and Andy Brenton 26. Adrian Julian took two for 70, Matt Pease three for 42, Fraser King three for 30 and Gary Sorma one for 48. In reply, it was all about one man – Fraser King, who hit 11 fours and a six in his knock of 80. Their first wicket fell at 86 when M Pease was out for only 17. However, after this, the Luckett bowlers, with the help of some very good catches, soon had them all out for 146 in the 39th over. Good bowling by Paul Clements (5-51), Adrian Robins (4-17) and Mark Southcott (1-22), plus a very fine display by Brenton, who only had 33 runs scored off him in 11 tight overs and also had two catches put down, sealed the win. This completed the double over St Gluvias.
