A NEW state-of-the-art fitness suite opened for business yesterday. Lux Park Leisure Centre's new 52-station fitness suite opened to customers for the first time as part of the first phase of a £350,000 improvement project for the Liskeard centre. The new gym includes a range of the most up-to- date cardiovascular and resistance fitness equipment, including weights, cross trainers, treadmills, step machines, exercise bikes, rowing machines and summit trainers. 'We're delighted to welcome all of our customers back with a new gym,' Steve Luscombe, Lux Park Leisure Centre's health and fitness manager said. 'We'd like to thank our customers for their patience while the work was being carried out. We're sure they'll be very pleased with the results.' The gym also includes life circuit equipment, which works on a flexiband system to provide a more controlled and gentle form of exercise suited to those recovering from sports injuries, GP referrals and younger users. Second phase Some of the equipment is also suitable for customers with disabilities. Work now starts on the second phase of the project, which will transform the former shooting range into two new dance studios. The second phase should take around a month to complete.
