Mrs Beatrice Guest, who celebrated turning 103 at St Anne's Residential Home, Saltash on January 28 still enjoys her favourite meal - fish 'n' chips. Moreover, she is still partial to prawns which her family bring her each week.

Beatrice, the oldest lady in Saltash, was born in Exeter and, on leaving school at 16, went into a gentleman's service. She came to Saltash in 1927 and married her first husband James Charles Brooks in 1928, when he was in the Royal Navy. Their son Peter was born in 1933. Mr Brooks senior died in 1952 and Beatrice later married William Guest who died in 1984. Mrs Guest moved into St Anne's in 1992.

Attending Beatrice's birthday were her son, Peter and his wife, her granddaughter, Amanda Voden, and two great grandchildren, Hannah and Bethany, plus residents of the home and the mayor of Saltash, Mona Tom-aszewska, who presented her with flowers and chocolates.

Mrs Guest still enjoys television and her favourite programme is 'Songs of Praise'.

Beatrice enjoyed a cup of tea and a slice of one of the two birthday cakes made for the occasion.
