Marine experts will debate coastal waters and marine conservation at a conference this week.
Blue Marine Foundation (BLUE) – the UK-based marine conservation charity – will hold the UK’s first marine parks conference at the National Marine Aquarium, Plymouth (NMA).
BLUE will aim to re-evaluate how we protect British coastal waters as public assets, and in turn redefine what organisers call the UK’s often diluted definition of marine conservation.
Expert panellists will address the needs of the British coast, with particular focus on Plymouth Sound, the potential setting for Britain’s first national marine park.
The conference will consider international examples, including France, Canada, New Zealand, and Australia, chosen because of their effective implementation of marine parks.
