Representatives of the Cornwall Blood Bikes charity were handed a cheque for £435 raised by a building supplies company.

Moorswater Industrial Estate-based St Mary’s Leadworks managing director Lee Crocker and manager Simon Putt raised the money through the selling of 435 paving slabs over a period of six months.

They also donated a fuel card for the East Region’s motorcycles to help Cornwall Blood Bikes to cut down on its fuel bill for its operations in supplying its free service to its NHS partners.

Cornwall Blood Bikes fund-raising and publicity manager Ian Butler said of the donations: ‘These selfless acts of goodwill and charity go to strengthen the charity’s finances and enable it to plan the upgrade of its motorcycles and kit to make it a far more efficient operation, thus helping all of Cornwall and the people that benefit from what we do.

‘Our most profound thanks go out to Lee, Simon and St Mary’s Leadworks for their help to this truly local charity.’
